At the foundation-laying ceremony, government officials, healthcare experts, and local leaders gathered to show their support for the project. The initiative aims to reduce the reliance on overseas medical treatment by offering world-class healthcare services within Somalia (SONNA)
Garowe, the capital of Puntland, has been strategically chosen for this project due to its central location and political stability compared to other regions in Somalia. The hospital is expected to serve not only Puntland but also patients from across Somalia and neighboring regions.
The construction of the IHS Hospital is expected to create numerous job opportunities, both during its development phase and upon completion. Additionally, the presence of a state-of-the-art medical facility will encourage further investments in the healthcare sector and related industries in Puntland.
Furthermore, improved healthcare services will lead to better health outcomes, reducing mortality rates and improving overall quality of life. The hospital will also serve as a training and research center, fostering medical education and knowledge-sharing within the country.
Once operational, the IHS Hospital will offer specialized treatments in cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, and more. It is anticipated to become a referral center for complex medical cases, reducing the need for Somali citizens to seek treatment in other countries.
The project aligns with the broader vision of Puntland’s government to improve healthcare infrastructure and services for its citizens. With international partnerships and local support, the hospital has the potential to revolutionize Somalia’s medical landscape.
The launch of the IHS Hospital construction in Garowe marks a historic milestone for Somalia’s healthcare system. As the largest medical facility in the country, it is expected to provide advanced healthcare services, boost local employment, and improve the overall well-being of Puntland’s population.
